There are a number of careers for your sims to explore in The Sims 4, and thankfully with the new pack, The Sims 4: Eco Lifestyle, we have been given another one to try out. We are now able to join the Civil Designer career where your sim can talk to others about ways to make their lives better and more green and create new technology to get the job done.
Aspirations for the Civil Designer Career
Sometimes when you are creating a sim you want to have the perfect aspiration to go along with a career, and for this career you would want to choose theEco Innovator Aspiration. This aspiration actually has reach level 10 of the civil designer career as a requirement, so you know they work really well together.
In this aspiration, your sim will actually have to vote on neighborhood action plans, convince people to vote for their plans, and sell power to the power companies. It’s a great way to learn the pack as well.
Traits for the Civil Designer Career
Green Fiend
The best trait to give your sim for this career is the green fiend that came with Eco Lifestyle. Green Fiend sims are going to have a better time doing green activities and will work hard to make their world more green which goes right along with this career.
Outgoing
You may also want to make your sim outgoing. This is because there are parts of this career where you need to talk to sims about their utilities or convince someone to vote for a NAP and being their friend is important for this. Outgoing sims have an easier time talking to people.
University Degrees for the Civil Designer Career
If you have The Sims 4: Discover University installed in your game, you may want to think about going to University before starting this career for the extra job benefits. You can earn more money, a signing bonus, and better benefits like days off.
Every career in the game has certain degrees that will be helpful in getting you these bonuses, and for the civil designer career track you’ll want to go into Physics or Communications.
Civil Designer Career Levels
There are only three levels before you get to choose a branch in this career. Your daily task is going to be to interview a homeowner about utilities. You can ask any sim who is an adult this question and their answers don’t really matter. If you have a low relationship you’ll get a notification saying that your interview skills weren’t very good but this will still satisfy the requirement.
Before branching off, you are focused on the handiness skill and the logic skill. Handiness drops off for both branches so don’t work too hard to increase past level 3 just for the sake of the career. However, you’ll need to max logic so start working on that early.

The green technician branch of the career is going to have your sim working on the fabrication and logic skills in the game in order to get promoted. Thankfully, you’ll get a Store No More Home Fabricator when you get promoted, so you don’t have to spend the §1,800 on one for yourself.
Everyday you are going to need to fabricate an eco-upgrade part which can be done using the fabricating machine and all you need to craft one is bits and pieces which you can get from recycling various items using the recycling machine.
You’ll get some fun unlocks in the branch as well, the best one being the ability to grow your own cruelty free meat.
