The Sims 4: Engineer Career Guide
We have been given three new careers with The Sims 4: Discover University and they are education, law, and finally engineer!
All of these careers have bene highly anticipated by players and were necessary additions to the game, so we’re all very excited about it.
The engineer career focuses heavily on programming, handiness and of course the brand new robotics skill that has been added to the game.
Traits for the Engineer Career
The best trait for the engineer career would be genius, because genius sims are going to get random focused moodlets that will help them.
Being focused when using the robotics station will help your sim have better results, and is also an awesome mood to be in when practicing programming which is also necessary for this career.
Degrees That Help With Engineering
The benefit of going to University in The Sims 4 is that you get to skip a few levels of a career and make extra money, including a signing bonus.
The degrees that are going to benefit the engineer career are computer science and physics.
Working From Home
A lot of the new careers we’ve been getting in The Sims 4 are being given an option for us to work from home, this is a welcome addition for simmers who like to play through careers in a simple way, or stay at home with their kids.
One hour before your sim is set to go off to work a pop-up will appear in the bottom left hand corner asking if you’d like to go to work, work from home, or take paid time off.
When you choose the work from home option you’ll be given certain tasks to complete throughout the day that you need to have done by the time your next shift starts.
When you finish these small tasks you’ll be given a bit of money and can even earn a bonus from your boss the next day.
The tasks you’ll get in the engineer career can include things like write product report, review diagnostics, etc. These can all be done under the career menu on the computer in the engineer section!
Engineer Career Levels
“There are many problems in the world that require modern and creative solutions. Take your love of technology and pursue a career in engineering to solve the world’s problems with computers and mechanical gadgetry!”
Working through the engineer career is going to be expensive, because you’ll need to have some expensive stuff in your home to get your daily tasks done.
For example, you’re going to need the Robotics Table which costs §1,100 to gain the robotics skill. You’ll also need to work on your programming skill, so you’ll need a computer.
Thankfully, you also have the option to go to the Foxbury Commons to use these same things.
You’ll also need to work on your handiness skill which can be done by fixing broken items around the house, upgrading things, or by using the woodworking table.

Engineer Career Unlocks (Before Branch)
Most of the things you’re going to unlock in the engineer career are going to be things you make on the robotics station to improve your life, but you do get one build mode item to put on your wall, a framed blueprint!
Computer Engineer Branch
“The future is in the hands of Computer Engineers building worlds within worlds to keep our own chugging along efficiently.”
The computer engineer branch of this career is going to focus on programming and robotics, so you can do things like hacking to make money from your programming skill while working on your career.
The daily tasks of this career include construct computer chip, which can be done on the robotics table under the craft materials section.

You’re also going to be able to unlock the new computer glasses
Mechanical Engineer Branch
“It’s going to take more than software to bring the world into the 22nd century. That’s where Mechanical Engineering comes in!”
As a mechanical engineer you’re going to need to focus your time on the robotics skill as well as handiness, so it may be worth it to invest in a woodworking table so you can make money while improving the skill.
All of your daily tasks are going to be completed on the robotics table but beware of feeling dazed from getting electrocuted, so don’t keep going if that happens to avoid death.

Final Thoughts
The engineering career is a very welcome addition to the game and can be really fun along side the robotics skill and the new robotics table. You can craft amazing robots and other fun things to clean, party, and more! How do you feel about the engineer career? Let us know in the comments!
The engineer career is very fun, you’ll never get bored and you can in addition to that build interesting stuff but the thing is I for example started with the computer engineer career and got through it with a computer science degree but when I got to the last level of computer engineer I am not able to switch job and go to the mechanical engineer. Why is that?
You need the physics degree.
