How to Take Out Student Loans
When your sim is about to enroll in University they will get to choose their school, where they are going to live, the classes they will take, and finally how they are going to pay for it.
You’ll be given the option to choose to pay for school with your household funds or you can choose to take out student loans.
The amount of money you’re going to pay for classes isn’t a whole lot, so you’re not going to end up with hundreds of thousands of dollars of student loans, so don’t worry too much about it!
How to Pay Back Student Loans
To pay off your student loans, you can click on the mailbox or the computer and choose to make a student loan payment.
There will be a minimum payment that needs to be made based on how much you took out, but you’re able to make a payment of any size.
You can choose to pay them back with just the minimum payments every few days for your sim, or you can pay them in full and eliminate that debt right after graduating.
What Happens When You Don’t Pay Back Student Loans?
There are consequences if your sim decides not to pay back their student loans. You will have your stuff repossessed to help pay back some of your debt, but not all.
My Sim, Addelyn, graduated from University with a degree in Psychology on a Tuesday with 1,300 simoleons in student loans. On Wednesday, she had not yet made a payment and received her first and only warning.
Since Addelyn decided to ignore this warning, she kept going with her life and on Friday the repo man came to visit.
Those of you who played The Sims 2 will be happy to know that the repo man once again has a scary laser gun that will suck your belongings up when he takes them away.
It’s important to note that this doesn’t absolve your of your student loans. You still have to pay back your debt! If you still fail to make your student loan payments the repo man will continue to visit you until you’ve paid them in full.
