The Sims 4: How to Age Up Pets (Cats & Dogs)
Having pets in The Sims 4 really adds a new level of realism in the game and everyone loves a pets pack like The Sims 4: Cats & Dogs. However, sometimes we get too obsessed with our pets and want them to live forever and be able to age them down, or we need to age them up from kittens or puppies so they can do more.
In this article, we are going to talk about how to age up pets in the sims 4 as well as how to age them down so you can keep your pets around forever.
Aging up Pets With Treats
To be able to age up a pet without using cheats in The Sims 4, you’re going to need access to Dr. Magi-Heal’s Medicine Craft-o-Matic. Wow, what a weird name for an item in the game.
You can find this item in the vet clinic that is in Brindleton Bay or you can actually purchase one for your home from the hobbies section of buy mode, or by searching the item name.
To be able to create the treat to age up or age down pets in the game your sim is going to need to reach level 6 of the veterinarian skill. To gain this skill you can use that same Dr. Magi-Heal’s Medicine Craft-o-Matic and click on it and choose do lab work and your sim will just tinker around with the machine and gain the skill that way.
Once your sim reaches level 6 of the vet skill they are going to unlock the ability to craft the treats you need to age up or age down pets. You can click on the craft-of-matic and choose craft > treats and choose the age up treat.
When your sim finishes crafting this treat it will appear in their inventory and you can click on the pet and choose to give them the vet treat and they will age up within a few seconds.
Aging up Pets Using Cheats
If you don’t feel like working through the veterinarian skill in the game to craft a treat, you can also age up pets using the full edit mode cheat. This cheat allows you to go in and edit everything for sims and pets (including ages, appearance, and more) that you aren’t normally able to edit in CAS.
To enter full edit mode to age up a pet you need to open up the cheat box by hitting ctrl + shift + c on your keyboard and then enable cheats by typing in testingcheats true and hit enter.
Then, in that same dialogue box you can type in the full edit mode cheat which is, cas.fulleditmode and hit enter. This should allow you to enter full edit mode. Then, you can hold down shift and click on you pet and choose modify in CAS.
When create a sim opens you can choose a different age for your sim pet and then click the check mark and they will be a different age.
Aging Down Pets
You don’t just need to use these to age up a pet, you also have the option to age down your pets using both of the above methods so you can keep your beloved pets around your sims longer.
You’ll just need to get your sim to craft an age down treat instead of the age up treat if you use the vet skill method, and just choose a younger age if you choose the full edit mode method.
Final Thoughts
We all love our pets in both real life and the sims so we may want to keep our sims around longer or age them up earlier so they are easier to play with. Using these methods you can simply age up your pets without worrying about that stuff!
It doesn’t seem to want to work. Once I do enter that mode it says cannot edit pre-existing Sims. Any ideas on how I can fix this?
open the cheats menu by using ctrl + shift + c or if on xbox or ps4 its LB + LT + RB + RT or L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 and then type testingcheats on and once they are on type in the cheats menu “cas.fulleditmode” then try and edit your sim again
Hit Ctrl+Shift+C to open the cheat dialogue box. Once open type in ‘TestingCheats True’ (without the quotations marks) and hit enter. Then type in cas.fulleditmode and enter. Go to the pet you wish to modify and hold down shift key and click pet at the same time. It will bring up options and chose the ‘Modify in CAS’ option. This should help.
Try going to the vet and buying it that has worked for me many times
make your sim walk to a mirror and press “change sim” then you can age up your animal
Just tried it, it doesn’t work.
You can also buy the age up treat from the vet clinic in Brindleton Bay, just as you go in the door there is a vending machine that you can use to buy all of the different types of treats.
give me the birthday back please sims 4 like because it’s my favourite pets
