The medium skill came to the game with The Sims 4: Paranormal Stuff and is a really interesting skill to gain. Without this skill, the paranormal stuff pack would just be a bunch of pretty furniture as it is central to the new gameplay we got with this pack. With the medium skill your sim will be able to host seances, commune with the dead, and even summon everyone’s favorite maid, Bonehilda.
How to Gain The Medium Skill
The only way to gain the medium skill in the game is to interact with a séance table or a séance circle in the game. You are able to do the following interactions with a séance table as you gain the skill they will start becoming available:
- Commune with the Departed
- Perform Ceremony
- Sense Spiritual Volatility
- Invoke the Dead
- Summon Bonehilda
- Perform Ghastly Ritual
Medium Skill Levels
There are only five levels to the medium skill, as it is a minor skill, which makes it not take as long to gain as other skills in the game.
Medium Skill Level 1
For your sims to start gaining the medium skill, they are going to need a séance table on their lot. Your sim will be able to click on that table and do a few interesting interactions including communing with the departed, performing ceremonies, and sensing spiritual volatility.
Medium Skill Level 2
When you get to level two of the skill your sim no longer has to participate in these things alone. They are going to unlock the ability to host group séances, or commune with the dead and host ceremonies with another sim.
Medium Skill Level 3
When your sim reaches level 3 of the medium skill they are going to unlock perhaps the most exciting interaction, the ability to summon bonehilda to come and clean your home and be your friend. You’ll also be able to invoke the dead and when this sim uses the séance table they may float in their chair.
Medium Skill Level 4
At level four of the skill you will only unlock one ability, which is to perform ghastly ritual on your séance table.
Medium Skill Level 5
At level 5 you are going to have maxed out the medium skill, which is awesome. You’ll be able to create your own séance circles anywhere that you go which is helpful for the paranormal investigator career. You are also going to have better chances when interacting with specters and can get a paranormal investigator license from Guidry.
How to Cheat the Medium Skill
With every new skill comes a new skill cheat for you to learn. Before you au re able to cheat you want to first enable cheats by hitting ctrl + shift + c on your keyboard (all four triggers on console) to open the cheat bar and then type in testingcheats true and this will enable cheats. Then you’ll want to type in stats.set_skill_level minor_medium X and fill the X with whatever level of the skill you’d like to have, for example to max it out the cheat would be stats.set_skill_level minor_medium 5.
Getting a Paranormal Investigator License
One really fun part of The Sims 4: Paranormal Stuff is to start working as a Paranormal Investigator as one of the Freelance Careers. Doing this job is extremely fun but first, you must get your paranormal investigator license. You are going to first need to max out your medium skill to get this, so get to working on different items on the seance table to max that out first.
Then, once you’ve reached level 5 of the skill you’ll want to talk to Guidry the Ghost. This is a friendly ghost who will come to your home on the second night of living in a haunted house to help out. If you don’t want to live in a haunted house you are also able to summon him on your seance table if you’re too scared to deal with ghosts in your home.
Guidry is a valuable asset because you can ask him all sorts of questions about the paranormal and get so many useful details and be able to ask him for a paranormal investigator license then you’ll be able to go in and choose a freelancer job and when choosing your type of freelance work you can choose freelance investigator.
The medium skill isn’t all that complicated, and is fairly easy to earn in the game but it is really fun and has a lot of fun gameplay tied into it. This is especially true for a skill that came with a stuff pack, just fun stuff all around. Happy playing!
