The school system in The Sims 4 is seriously boring with your kids just going to school, coming home, and doing their homework. It can get extremely repetitive especially if you’ve been playing The Sims 4 since it launched in 2014.
Thankfully, modders are always able to add exceptional depth and detail into the game and school mods are no different. These mods add things like after school activities, the ability to drop out, and so much more.
1. After School Activities
The after school activities mod created by Kawaii Stacie is a great mod because it will give your child or teenaged sims something to do after school, since most of the time it’s just homework, dinner, and then bed.
There are over 30 after school activities for your sims to participate in that will happen every single weekday at 4PM and this is in addition to Scouts or Drama Club that are in some of the packs.
The types of activities your sims can participate in include things like kpop club, party planning club, gaming club, chess club, and more. The best part is that each of these after school activities will allow your sims to earn skills in those particular subjects (i.e., video gaming skill for the gaming club).
2. Cheat Highschool Performance Mod
The cheat teen highschool performance mod is an extremely simple but effective one that will allow you to stop spending so much darn time finishing your teenaged sims homework so you can enjoy their lives a bit more.
This mod will let you cheat to get your teens homework done immediately and will bring their school performance bar to the highest level without having to put in the work.
3. Drop Out of High School & Get a Job
The drop out of highschool and get a real job mod by telford is a great option if you just want a sim to not spend their entire teen lives in High School. In addition to letting your sims drop out of school, this mod will let your teen sims start any adult career that you have in the game.
This type of mod is extremely useful for different story lines and having sims who may be teenaged parents who are no longer in school. It is seriously fun to mix things up!
4. Early Exit from School
The early exit mod is an extremely simple one that gives your high performing kids and teens more free time. A sim who has an F in school will have to stay at school until 4PM, a sim with a D to B will stay until 2PM, and sims who have an A in school are able to go home at 1PM giving them way more free time.
5. Education System Bundle
The education system bundle by KawaiiStacie takes four of their most popular school mods and mixes them together allowing you to have a really great school experience.
This mod includes a few awesome mods including a preschool mod (enrolls toddlers in preschool), the better schools mod (giving you skill building and interactions at school), the smarter homework mod (letting you build skills while doing homework) and finally, online schooling allowing your sims to take school from home.
6. Elementary School Mod
This elementary school mod works in conjunction with the go to school mod that we’ll talk about in a few. This mod adds a full elementary school for your sims to go to, including an alchemy lab, classrooms, headmaster’s offices, and so much more. It can really make the going to school experience more streamlined and fun for your sims.
7. Genius Teens Can Apply to University
If you have The Sims 4: Discover University you’ll definitely want this mod. It will allow you to let teenagers go to University if they meet a requirement. This can be any sim with a genius trait, or a sim who finished elementary school with an A or currently have an A in high school.
This is really great because you can get a jump start on University without having to wait until your sim is a young adult giving you a chance to spend less of their adult lives in school.
8. Go to School Mod Pack
The go to school mod pack by Zerbu is one of the best school mods available. This mod adds the ability to actually go to school with your sim, including going to different classes with different subjects which makes it so much more fun.
There will be an actual teacher standing at the front of the room teaching the children and your sims are going to be able to earn skills and even unlock special aspirations if they are doing well enough. Overall, just a really great and in-depth mod if you want to change the way school feels for your sim’s kids.
9. Meet Sims Faster and Gain School Performance
One of the most annoying things about school in The Sims 4 is that if you choose for your sims to meet new friends while at school they are going to lower their school performance while making friends.
Thankfully, this mod adds just a small quality of life change where your sims are able to meet sims more quickly as well as gaining performance so you can still make friends without doing poorly in school.
10. No Goals Needed for School
The no goals needed for school mod will make it so your sims no longer have to do homework or gain any skills for school. This is going to unlock so much time for your sims to do hobbies or spend time with their families after school instead of grinding their time on homework or skill gains.
11. No Grade or Highschool From the Start
The no grade or highschool mod does just that, makes it so none of your sims have to go to school anymore. This can be interesting for different storylines, like if you want to act like you were homeschooling your sim’s kids or if school didn’t exist.
12. No University Housing Restrictions
The no university housing restrictions mod is a simple but great one that can make your life in the University dorms so much better. Currently, in the game you can move into the dorms when you’re in University and at these dorms you can’t have a stove or grill, meaning you have to go to the University commons to eat anything.
This simple mod removes those restrictions allowing you to set up a full kitchen and be able to cook meals at your own pace and not wait for the commons to start serving food.
13. Playable School Events
The playable school events mod by Kawaii Stacie is a fun one! This mod allows you to go to school with your sims. This doesn’t make it happen for everyday, but you get to choose specific days that you want the event to take place, giving you full control.
There is even event rewards that will give you a higher chance of promotion in school depending on how well you do that day. There is even an option to send your kids to private school which will cost you a few simoleons per day.
14. Preschool Mod
Do you ever wonder what you’re supposed to do with your pesky toddlers during the day while you’re at work and the older kids are at school? Well, KawaiiStacie’s preschool mod has the answer. It allows you send your toddlers to preschool between the hours of 8AM and 12PM giving you a couple of hours without your toddlers.
15. Quit or Rejoin School Mod
The quit or rejoin school mod by Triplis gives your sims the option to quit school at any time, without making it so they aren’t able to rejoin if they want. This is nice because it can make is so you can have a few days off school and then reenter whenever you choose.
16. Required Degree for Careers
The required degree for careers mod by Zero is awesome but awful because it forces you to earn a degree for most careers before you are able to join them. No more full-on doctors without a degree!
This means that you’ll need to get a completed degree done, so you have to have The Sims 4: Discover University in order to play. I love this mod because it feels extremely real and more like real life than just joining any career immediately out of high school.
17. Simston Private School Mod
One of my favourite parts about The Sims 2 was calling up the headmaster and trying to get your sims into private school. The Simston Private School Mod gives your sims in The Sims 4 that same opportunity.
You’ll be able to invite over the private school headmaster and you’ll need to convince them to let you into their school. This mod even makes it so your school day starts at 7 instead of 8 because private school kids are no joke.
18. Teens Jump to University
The teens jump to university mod by Zero allows your teen sims to go to University if they are doing well in school, however, it is not guaranteed. It will have a random likelihood of happening and it will just appear as a pop-up that comes from the school, so you don’t get to choose it, making it a bit more fun.
19. University – Sheldon L Cooper Program
The Sheldon L Cooper Program allows your teenaged sims to apply for scholarships to help them pay for University. You can get scholarships for 5,000 or 15,000 and there is even a night school for your sims to attend to get their grades up and earn a scholarship.
20. Willow Creek High School
This willow creek high school is another mod that you need to have the Go to School mod we spoke about earlier to use. This is just another highschool lot for your sims to attend that will make things feel a bit different and give you a different experience. It includes, a botanical garden, computer rooms, a library and so much more.
Adding mods to your school experience in The Sims 4 can seriously make the game so much more fun. I am obsessed with school mods because playing with kids in the game is so repetitive and boring since all they do is go to school and work through the same four children’s aspirations over and over again. Happy Playing!
