The Sims 4: Windenburg Overview

Windenburg is one of the most beautiful worlds in The Sims 4 and was added to the game with The Sims 4: Get Together. This world is inspired by the south of Germany and has other beautiful European accents.

Take ye olde deep breath and enjoy the mountain air. This green, expansive playground has got it all; lush countryside, serene and rocky cliffs, a quaint village with remnants of the old world all nestled around the modern shore side business center.

Windenburg was the very first new world to be introduced into the game through an expansion pack with Get Together. It’s also one of the biggest worlds that is in the game, with the large number of lots available for gameplay.

Windenburg Neighbourhoods

There are 4 neighbourhoods inside Windenburg and each has their own style and quirks. Let’s go into some of the features of each neighbourhood in detail.

The Island

The island is the most self explanatory of the windenburg neighbourhoods, as it is, an island. There are 6 lots on the island, including the bluffs which is a weird lot that has a pool and a ton of greenery.

There is one empty lot on The Island, called Mid-Nowhere and it is a 20×20 lot available for purchase. There is also an empty house called Pier Palace that is a beautiful modern home.

There are a few families who live in this neighbourhood as well. You’ll find the Bjergsen family living at The Lighthouse, the Villareal family living at Von Windenburg Estate, and the Bro family living at Dock Den.


The countryside is located in the top left hand corner of the world and is surrounded by wind mills and trees. There is also a beautiful river that flows through the area into the ocean. There is also the Von Haunt Estate that is located at the top of the neighbourhood that can be visited.

In countryside, you’ll find one empty lot which is called The Summer Home, as well as one empty house that be a great starter home called Rustic Residence.

There are a few families who live in the countryside neighborhood. You will find the Munch family in the Coorinberg Cottage, the Fryes family in the Dresden House, and finally, the Free Spirits family in the Cottage Am See home.

Old Town District

The Old Town District of Windenburg has the Ancient Ruins located at the top of the neighbourhood. This is a common place for sims to be invited to go to parties and hangout with their friends. There is an entrance to the Ruins located next to the Proprietor’s Square.

There are a number of community lots inside the Old Town District as well. This includes the Quar Manor which is a beautiful library, the Narwhal Arms nightclub, a coffee shop called South Square Coffee and finally, the Old Quarter Inn Bar.

There are two lots that your sims can move into located inside the Old Town District. The first is the Havisham House and the second is Proprietor’s Square. There are no empty lots in this area.

There are only two families that live inside the Old Town District of Windenburg, first is the Partihaus family living in Factory One, and the Behr family living at Waterlock Redoubt.

Modern District

The modern district of Windenburg doesn’t include any residential lots but is a great area for just community lots and includes a lot of benches for your sims to sit and chat. It is surrounded by water so it makes for some beautiful scenery.

There are 5 community lots in the Modern District, including, the Discotheque Pan Europa Nightclub, the Habor Quarter Gym, the Hare and Hedgehog Cafe, the Hare Square Park, and finally, Bathe de Rill which is a community pool.

Windenburg Families

Bjergsen Household

Teen musical prodigy Sofia has dreams — she’s going to make it big. Not even her gloomy dad, perfectionist mom, or pesky genius kid sister can stop her from making her way to the top!

Fryes Household

Things couldn’t be better between lovebirds Dominic and Moira — too bad the same can’t be said for their daughters! Free spirit Morgan just wants to have fun with her Renegade friends, but Siobhan can’t stand that attitude. Siobhan is determined to build a network of popular friends who can help her career aspirations. Will Siobhan move out on her own before the tension in the house explodes?

Bro Household

Tech-savvy hunk Sergio and brash DJ Joaquin have little in common… except for the finer things in life. As they climb the ranks and rake in the bucks, just how awesome can they make their sweet pad?

Partihaus Household

Drink, flirt, dance, repeat. Jade, Eva, and Paolo jumped at the opportunity to explore the world and set up the ultimate crib in Windenburg as soon as Marcus extended the invite. And the party hasn’t stopped since. Drama is never far behind when they’re together – and they’re always together! With only one and a half jobs between the four of them, how in the world do they manage to pay their bills?

Villareal Household

After Jacques’ wife disappeared under… ahem, mysterious circumstances, he was left raising three kids in his enormous mansion. Luna and Hugo are good kids with typical teen problems, but the youngest, Max, is a terrifying force of nature. Will the kids drive Jacques crazy before his eccentric habits and hobbies drive them crazy?

Munch Household

Raising three kids is never easy — particularly when one refuses to move out of the house, and one is a gloomy rebel. But Mila Munch is nothing if not dedicated to her family, and her sweet little Lucas always cheers her up after a hard day of restaurant work.”

Free Spirits Household

Bookish Maaike, and artsy Ulrike aren’t materialistic, but even these two roommates admit they could use a few upgrades around the house. Will Maaike be able to sell a few stories, or will Ulrike finally put out a painting that meets her exacting standards?

Behr Household

Yuki and Candy recently inherited a quaint, modest home from their dearly departed Grandma Behr. Geeky teen Yuki absolutely idolizes her cool DJ sister, Candy, but Yuki’s got some mad skills of her own. Sure, she may not be the edgy Spinmaster Candy is, but she can annihilate anyone at Blicblock. She’s also quickly becoming Windenburg’s most infamous underground hacker.

Windenburg Community Lots

There are 13 community lots in Windenburg for your sims to explore, each is very fun, and cool, and awesome! While writing this I’m in a very weird and adjective filled mood.

The regular community lots are as follows:

  • Hare and Hedgehod (Cafe)
  • Discotheque Pan Europa (Nightclub)
  • The Narwhal Arms (Nightclub)
  • Hare Square (Park)
  • Harbor Quarter Gym (Gym)
  • Bathe De Rill (Pool)
  • Old Quarter Inn (Bar)
  • The Shrieking Llama (Bar)
  • Quad Manor (Library)

There are also a few speciality community lots in Windenburg:

  • The Bluffs
  • Von Haunt Estate
  • Ancient Ruins

Final Thoughts

Windenburg is one of the most beautiful worlds in The Sims 4, and we can thank the sims team for that. I really hope that the rest of the sims expansion packs will have worlds that are this in depth and detailed.
