The Sims 4: Cloning Machine (Get to Work)

The cloning machine was introduced in The Sims 4: Get to Work and allows your sims to duplicate a number of items, and eventually even a sim! In this guide we are going to talk about how to get a cloning machine as well as how to use it.

How to Get a Cloning Machine

To be able to get a cloning machine in The Sims 4 you’re going to need to get your sim into the active scientist career. When you get to the 5th level of the career and make your 9th breakthrough you’ll be able to craft the machine.

You’ll need to have 2 common crystals and 2 common metals in order to use the invention constructor to create a cloning machine.

How to Get a Cloning Machine With Cheats

If you don’t want to join the scientist career but still want a cloning machine, you can use the buy debug cheat to get one as well. This cheat unlocks a number of items that you see in game but aren’t normally able to purchase.

You need to hit ctrl + shift + c on your keyboard, then type in testingcheats true to make sure that cheats are enabled in your game. Then type in bb.showhiddenobjects to use this specific cheat and hit enter.

To find the cloning machine you can go into build mode and use the search bar in the bottom left hand corner and type in cloning machine and it should pop up.

Using The Cloning Machine on Objects

You aren’t able to clone just anything on the cloning machine, there are only a few objects that are possible:

• Crystals
• Serums
• Metals
• Fruits
• Flowers
• Plates of Food

The best one is that you can clone food so this means that you could pretty much never cook again if you use it correctly!

To clone an object you need to drag that item over to the cloning machine and click on the machine and choose clone object. If the cloning was successful there will be two of the same item on the cloning machine, on different sides.

Be aware, there is a chance that the object will fail! When the cloning fails a rudimentary matter cube may appear where the cloned object should appear, these cubes are worth only §1 and can be rather annoying when you really wanted to clone something.

Using The Cloning Machine on a Sim

If you get your cloning machine upgraded, you’ll eventually be able to start cloning sims.

The sim is going to join your household and will look identical to the original sim. Most of the time your sim will end up with the same traits as the original sim, but there is always a chance that they will become an evil clone and will gain the mean or evil trait instead of one of the cloned sim.

These sims are not going to have any of the original sim’s skills, relationships, or careers. They’re essentially a brand new sim with a beautiful look from someone else!

Using the cloning machine in The Sims 4 can be really fun if you want to create an army of your sim, or just create a ton of the same object.
