How to Complete the Championship Rider Aspiration in The Sims 4: Horse Ranch
One of my favourite things about getting new DLC is brand new aspirations. I find that aspirations are great for focusing my gameplay and exploring new parts of the game so whenever I get something new I love diving deep into the new aspirations.
The Sims 4: Horse Ranch came with two new aspirations, the expert nectar maker aspiration and the one we’ll be focusing on today the championship rider aspiration. These are great for getting you to dive deep into new gameplay that you can get through this pack!
All About The Championship Rider Aspiration
The description of the championship rider aspiration reads “this sim wants to be one of the world’s premier horse riders and will prove it by participating in horse competitions” which tells you pretty much everything you need to know about it.

You’ll find this aspiration under the athletic section which makes sense. There is only one stage to this aspiration that has four tasks for you to complete:
- Achieve Level 10 Horse Riding Skill
- Compete in 15 Horse Competitions
- Win Gold in 5 Master Horse Competitions
- Place at the Ultimate Horse Championship
How to Complete the Championship Rider Aspiration
There are four parts of this aspiration, let’s dig into each of those individually so you have some tips and tricks for getting them done.
Achieve Level 10 Horse Riding Skill
Building the horse riding skill is easy but super time consuming. All you need to do is spend lots of time on a horse. You can do this through going on different rides around town and eventually be able to go do some horse jumping with your sims.

Your sim isn’t going to love horse riding at first. They may get negative moodlets like tense if they spend too much time riding horses or if a horse bucks them. Thankfully, as your sim gets better at horse riding they are going to have the benefit of being more confident and they’ll have a better time.
Compete in 15 Horse Competitions
Entering horse competitions is the biggest part of this aspiration because your sim needs to be the best. To enter your first competition you just need to go to the Hay Now! Equestrian Centre that’s located in the New Appaloosa neighbourhood in Chestnut Ridge.

Once at the equestrian centre you can click on the building and choose enter competition and you’ll be able to compete, just do this 15 times and you’ll get this done.
Win Gold in 5 Master Horse Competitions
There are so many things you need to know about horse compeitions and how to do well in them. The first thing is making sure that your skills are high enough for both you and your horse. You’ll want a decently high horse riding skill for your sims and have some good skills on your horse.
The skills your horse can gain include temperament, jumping, agility and endurance. If you’re going to enter a show jumping competition you’ll want your horse to have a high jumping skill. You gain these skills for your horse through riding them and doing the different tasks from barrel racing to jumping.
You also want to make sure that both your sim and your horse are in the right mood when entering competitions if you want to win gold. This means making sure they have all their needs taken care of (you can see a horses needs by hovering your mouse over them) as well as making sure they don’t have any negative moodlets. It’s also probably a good idea to have your sim feel focused or confident right before entering.

To enter the right compeition you’ll go to the Hay Now! Equestrian centre, click on the building and choose master level competition. Your sim and your house will join, and you’ll soon know how you did.
Place at the Ultimate Horse Championship
The worst part about trying to place at this competition is that it only happens on Saturdays so if you fail the first time you have to wait a whole week before your sim can enter again.
Your sim and horse can only enter the Ultimate Horse Championship after they’ve done all of the master competitions. This means you need to do the barrel racing, endurance racing, show jumping and western pleasure competitions first.
To enter this competition you can either click on the Equestrian Centre or the community board in town and enter through that. You want to do all the same things as the other compeition including:
- Make sure your sim has a high horse riding skill
- Make sure your horse has good skills
- Make sure your sim is in a good mood and has a confident moodlet
- Make sure your horse has high needs and is in a good mood
Pro Tip: Save your game right before the competition. If your sim doesn’t place you can quickly exit your game without saving, load back in, and try again.
Rewards for Completing The Championship Rider Aspiration
Whenever you complete an aspiration in The Sims 4 you’re going to get a reward, which is the best part! When you complete the championship rider aspiration you’re going to be given the grand champ trainer reward trait.
The description of this trait reads “These sims train horse skills faster, sell horses for higher prices, inspire confidence in themselves and their horse when riding and training, and will very rarely have a bad time riding a horse. In fact, they are so good with horses that horses have even more fun when being ridden by them. They can also give competition advice to aspiring horse riders.”
The thing about reward traits is that oftentimes you don’t need most of the parts of them because you’ve already mastered this skill. The best parts about this trait is being able to make your horses have more fun, that’s just cute and makes me happy.
Plus, if you’re super into horse breeding and want to make money through selling horses you can easily do that and make more money than before.

The Champion Rider aspiration is a fun one to play through the first time but doesn’t have a ton of replay-ability for me. I only had to experience failing the Ultimate Horse Championship once to realize I would never want to do this again with my sims. Oh well, how do you feel about this aspiration?
