The Sims 4: Critic Career
The critic career was a new introduction to the sims 4 when The Sims 4: City Living came out. This is one career that can be really interesting because it’s different from most careers we’ve been given in game, and I really enjoy some of the unlockables you receive!
Working From Home
One of the best parts about the critic career is that you have the ability to work from home which can be extremely valuable if your sim needs to stay at home with their kids, or you just want to not send them to work everyday.
Each day an hour before your sim is scheduled to start working a popup will appear that will ask you if you want to go to work or work from home on that particular day. Then, your work panel will show the different tasks that you need to perform in order to keep your boss satisfied and earn your payment for a job well done.
Each time you complete a task you’ll be given a payment and sometimes if you complete all the tasks you can be given a little bonus at the start of the next work day.
The option to work from home is awesome however, it can sometimes take a lot longer for your sim to get promoted using this method.

Traits For The Critic Career
If you’re thinking of going into the critic career, creative is always a good option since it helps your sims write more quickly and you’ll be constantly writing articles. It’s also helpful to grow your painting skill and writing skill.
You can also choose the foodie trait if your sim is going into the food critic branch just to give them that extra edge when doing food reviews.
Critic Career Levels
There are only 3 levels of the critic career before you get to the point where you can choose a branch, listed below are the first 3 ranks of the critic career as well as all relevant information including your pay, and when you’d work:

Art Critic Branch
The art critic is the first of two branches for the critic career in the sims 4. The description for the art critic career says “set the standard for all artistic endeavors” which says a lot about the career as a whole.
You’ll find yourself having to go into the city and review performances made by sims in the street (note: karaoke doesn’t count as a performance, only people who are playing instruments are eligible).
A benefit of being in the art critic branch is that you’ll receive a discount on any art that you buy from build/buy once you reach level 8 of the career.

Food Critic Branch
If you decide to have your food critic work from home, you’ll find your tasks including things like going to restaurants and reviewing the food and drinks but sometimes you’ll find yourself only having to write an article or do another small task that don’t involve going to a restaurant.
Your sim will also unlock the interaction to Improve Dish to improve the quality of any meal. You can also get reader letters in the mail which can have either a positive or negative effect on your sim.
Since you’ll be working on food articles, you need to make sure your sim increases both their cooking and their gourmet cooking skill. Since you’re a food critic, you’ll find that most of the food your sims cook is higher quality.

Final Thoughts
The critic career in the sims 4 is a lot of fun and can be a really option job option for your sims if you have the desire to work from home, or if you just want to have an interesting career that’s different from things like the business career.
