To gain the temperament skill you can spend lots of time interacting with your horse and doing lots of social interactions with them. You also have the option of sending them through horse training at the Equestrian Centre.

If you are raising your horse from birth you should work on temperament as much as you can when they are young. This is because if they have a high temperament skill at age up they can get the well-manner foal trait!

Levels of the Horse Temperament Skill

• Level One: Horses are able to communicate with sims with basic interactions.
• Level Two: Horses will have a slightly better chance for positive social interactions and unlocks the talk about social life interaction.
• Level Three: Unlocks discuss secret lives of animals interaction.
• Level Four: Horses will be less likely to buck a sim when being ridden and unlocks the ask about controlling temper interaction which calms down horses when they’re angry.
• Level Five: Horses will have a slightly better chance for positive social interactions and unlocks the compliment temperament interaction.
• Level Six: Unlocks the seek emotional support interaction that sims can use with their horse to cheer themselves up when they’re sad.
• Level Seven: Horses will be less likely to buck a sim when being ridden and unlocks the ask about dealing with sims interaction which will increase a sim’s ability to gain the charisma skill.
• Level Eight: Horses will have a slightly better chance of having positive social interactions.
• Level Nine: Horse will never buck a sim that’s riding them again.

With both sims and horses there are certain traits you’ll want to give them to make them gain skills more quickly and this applies to temperament too. The following traits can be helpful in gaining this skill:

• Friendly: A friendly horse loves talking to sims and being around them and are more likely to have positive social interactions which just helps with their temperament.
• Intelligent: An intelligent horse gains every skill more quickly and are also great at conversation with sims.
• Mellow: A mellow sim loves to relax and is super laid back which means they gain temperament more quickly, but they do gain all athletic skills slower.

How to Cheat The Horse Temperament Skill

Gaining horse skill can take a lot of time and sometimes you may want to go ahead and cheat them so your horses can be sold for more money without effort. You can pretty easily cheat the horse skills but you’ll first need to find your horse’s sim ID!

Once you’ve gathered the sim ID you’ll want to use the following cheat. However, you’ll change the X for whatever level (1-10) of the skill you want and change the [SimID] part to whatever number the game gave you:
