Sometimes we are looking for that perfect piece of clutter or a certain type of plant that we know the game has but it isn’t something that’s available in the traditional build/buy mode, and that’s where the debug cheat comes in for the sims 4.

Did you know that we also have a Youtube Channel? We make video guides that go right along with our text guides on the website, check out this one:
What is Debug?
When you use the debug cheat in the sims 4, you’ll get to see all of the in game items that aren’t available for you to purchase. This could include things like a single toothbrush that is loose that would normally only appear when someone is brushing their teeth but can’t actually be purchased by you.
Debug is an awesome way to get nice clutter items that can make your homes feel more lived in.
How to Use The Debug Cheat
If you want to see the items that appear under debug, you need to first hit ctrl + shift + c to open up the cheat dialogue box and type in testingcheats true and hit enter. This is the cheat that allows all other cheats to work and I’ve heard that the debug cheat will not work if you don’t have cheats turned on.
Next, you’re going to type in bb.showhiddenobjects and hit enter. Debug items will now be shown in your build and buy catalog.
Nothing happens when you hit enter after typing in bb.showhiddenobjects, you need to actually go to build buy to see if the items have appeared. To sort these items you can type debug into the search bar above the image of the house in the bottom left corner.
Note: This is not the same as the cheat that unlocks all of the unlockable objects in build/buy, that cheat is bb.ignoregameplayunlocksentitlement and would be put in the same way.
The buy debug cheat in the sims 4 is one of my favourites and can make for some really great clutter for your sim homes. What is your favourite item in the buy debug menu? Do you use the debug cheat often? Let me know in the comments!
