How to Get a Horse in The Sims 4: Horse Ranch
If you’ve recently downloaded The Sims 4: Horse Ranch you’re going to need to know how to get your hands on a horse! Thankfully, this is easy with many options to get the job done so let’s jump in and get you the horse of your dreams.
Create a Horse in Create-a-Sim
The first way to get a horse is to create one for your family in create-a-sim. This is going to give you complete control over the horse’s traits, their breed and their overall look including their coat and their outfits. The best part about this is that it requires no money and no effort for your sims.
If you’ve already created the family you want to add a horse to you can use the cas.fulleditmode cheat to enter CAS to add one to your family.
Purchase a Horse
Purchasing a horse is the second way you can get a horse and you have two options. You can either rescue or just purchase. What’s the difference? Well, purchasing a horse costs 1,000 simoleons while rescuing is only 250.
This is because rescues are slightly less desirable. They can often be elders who won’t be around as long, or they can have traits like fearful or aggressive that you probably don’t want your horses to have.
To purchase a horse you can either use your phone or click on the food trough that your horses will eat from and choose Call Ranch Animal Exchange and then you’ll be able to choose either purchase or rescue.

When your sim calls you’ll have a menu open where you can see all the available horses and when you hover over each horse you’ll get to know some things about them. This includes their name, age, breeding ability (i.e., if they’re a mare or stallion) as well as their traits.

Click on whichever horse you’d wish to purchase or rescue and your sim will leave the lot and return with a horse, just make sure you have everything you need to care for it!

Breed Your Own Horses
If you already have a stallion and a mare in your sim’s household you have the option to breed your own horse to raise one from birth. This is a good option because they actually get a breeding trait that other horses can’t get, which is awesome and gives you a leg up on the competition.

To breed horses you want to click on either your mare or your stallion and encourage them to breed with the other. You’ll find out within the day if your horse is pregnant and they’ll give birth around 36 in-game hours later.
There is so much to do with horses that is so much fun, so I’m so excited that you get to go play with your new horse. Train them well, make sure they win some competitions and sell their poop for money!
