The Sims 4: Athlete Career
Is your sim a huge fan of exercising? Do they have a perfectly sculpted body? Well, the athlete career may be their best option in The Sims 4. This career is awesome because you can watch your sim’s body get more and more fit as time goes on.
This career track focuses on both the fitness skill and the charisma skill, so you can spend hours of your time hanging out with others at the gym to satisfy them both at the same time! This guide is going to discuss everything you need to know about the athlete career in the sims 4, let’s dig in!
Aspiration for the Athlete Career
I always like to start these guides with some aspirations that you may want to choose that will go right along with the career so you can have a bit of extra guidance when creating the perfect sim for the athlete career.
Bodybuilder Aspiration
The first aspiration that you may want to choose to go along with the athlete career is the body builder aspiration. This is an obvious one because all of the aspects of this aspiration involve working out and you’ll need to max out your fitness skill for both branches of the career. This aspiration is also awesome because if you complete it you’ll be given the long lived bonus trait, which will make it so your sim lives a longer life than others, maybe even enough time for a second career.
Friend to the World
If you don’t want your sim’s entire life to be consumed by athleticism you may want to choose the friend to the world aspiration instead. The other focus of the athlete career is the charisma skill and this aspiration will get your sim out talking to other sims and making friends which helps to naturally gain the skill.
Traits for the Athlete Career
Every career in the sims has specific traits that are going to make it easier for your sim to get the requirements done and for them to really enjoy doing it.
Active
The active trait is honestly a no-brainer when deciding your sim is going to go into the athlete career, since the active trait makes your sims have fun when working out and will give them whims that make them want to work out more often. You’ll have an easier time maxing out the fitness skill if you give your sim this trait.
Outgoing
Since the second aspect of the career is the charisma skill, choosing for your sim to be outgoing is a really great choice. Outgoing sims are more likely to enjoy talking to other sims and will have a better time when doing it, and it’s really easy to grow your charisma skill by just talking to other sims.
Loves The Outdoors
The loves the outdoors trait is a decent one at the beginning if you can’t actually afford work out equipment. You can send your sims out for runs often and they’ll have a better time if they truly enjoy being outside.
Lot Traits to Help in The Athlete Career
A really great way for your sims to increase their ability to gain skills is to use lot traits! The following lot traits can help you gain both the fitness and charisma skills.
Bracing Breezes
The bracing breezes lot trait will give any sim who is exercising an energized moodlet which helps them gain the skill a bit quicker and makes them have a better workout.
Convivial
The convivial lot trait makes your sim’s homes be a better place to talk and gain the charisma skill. Sims will have a better time when chatting with others!
Athlete Career Levels
“An athlete requires physical strength, speed, endurance, and intelligence. Start a career where enthusiastic fans will shout your name, wear your jersey, and remember your feats forever.”
The biggest aspect of the athlete career is the fitness skill. You can gain this skill in many ways, including going jogging, using work out equipment, and going swimming. It’s awesome because there are more than just a single option for things to do to satisfy your work requirements.
The second aspect of the athlete career is the charisma skill. You can gain this skill by reading the charisma books, practicing a speech in the mirror, or just hanging out and talking to other sims.

Athlete Career Unlocks (Before Branch)
Whenever you’re working through a career in The Sims 4, you’ll get the opportunity to unlock new create a sim and build mode items. In the athlete career before you get to the branch decision, you’ll unlock a few new create a sim items, my favorite will forever be the new team mascot outfit.
You’ll also unlock the athlete’s trophy case which can be a nice shelf for your sim’s wall.
Body Builder Career Branch
“As a master of muscle, you will partakes [sic] in a life of fitness, nutrition, and weight training. Train fellow Sims, show off feats of strength to adoring fans, and sculpt your body into the form of a god.”
Your daily task as a body builder is going to be to mentor fitness which is a lot harder than just working out on your own. You’ll need to get someone else to work out in your household, or head over to the gym and click on the sim and choose to mentor them. I prefer just heading over to the gym, because my other sim family members have better things to do!

Body Builder Branch Unlocks
The body builder branch of the athlete career has some really great unlocks for your sim to get as they progress throughout the career. The first, is the black no sweat, no fuss rug. This rug looks awesome in any home gym and will definitely keep that virtual sweat off of your floors.
You also unlock the ZenXercise Weight Machine, which is my favourite weight machine in game, purely for the aesthetics. It’s really cool looking, guys! It also gives off an energized aura, which can help your workouts if turned on.
You also get a few decor items including the Jr. Solar System trophy, the Inspirational Mouse Poster, and the Solar System trophy!
Pro Athlete Career Branch
“Are you a physical specimen with the motor, ambition, and natural talent to compete with the best? Want to earn a living playing a game that you played as a child? Then a career as a Professional Athlete is for you! Live the lifestyle and entertain the masses with your athletic ability.”
I’ve found that this is the easier of the two branches, since you won’t need to spend all of your time at the gym mentoring sims as well as actually working out.
Your daily task in the pro athlete career branch is to study opponents which is an interesting one for this career, because it’s done entirely on the computer. You can find this interaction under Web when you click on the computer.

Pro Athlete Branch Unlocks
The unlocks in the pro athlete branch aren’t my favourite, but they are decent. First off, you’ll get a new poster which I’ve found can be cutest in a kid’s bedroom! You’ll also earn a Llamacorns Team Picture which is a really cute item for a pro athlete to have.
Then, you’ll get the best one, the ZenXercise Treadmill which looks great in any home gym and gives off an energized aura that can help you earn the fitness skill quicker. And finally, you’ll get an all-star trophy as well as the MVP trophy!
Final Thoughts
