How to Hide Plumbob in The Sims 4 (Headline Effects Cheat)

A huge part of playing The Sims 4 is getting attached to your families and wanting to get the most beautiful screenshots of them. One huge annoyance in this is that there is always a brightly colored plumbob right above your sim’s heads and this can entirely ruin your screenshots.

There is also a bunch of random thought bubbles that appear above your sims heads when they’re having conversations that can get in the way too. Thankfully, there is a very simple cheat code that you can use to toggle these headline effects on and off to take the perfect image.

How to Enable Cheats

Since headline effects is a cheat code we must enable cheats before we are able to cheat it but this is super simple. You’ll first want to do the following to open up the cheat box:

  • PC: Ctrl + Shift + C
  • Mac: Command + Shift + C
  • Console: All Four Triggers

Once you have the cheat box open you’ll want to type in testingcheats true and hit enter. If it worked the game will let you know that cheats are enabled and you’re free to use whatever cheat codes you want.

How to Hide The Plumbob

Once you’ve enabled cheats you’ll finally be able to use the headline effects cheat and hide that darn plumbob. To do this you want to once again open the cheat box and type in headlineeffects off to get them to go away.

If you want them to come back after you’ve taken your screenshots you can open the cheatt box and type in headlineeffects on to turn them back on.
