The Sims 4: Social Media Career
With a new expansion pack comes a new career track for your sims to enjoy and that’s no different for The Sims 4: City Living. With this pack we were given the new social media career track which is a fun and modern spin on a great career for The Sims 4.
Thankfully, you don’t need to get your sim to Charisma Skill Level 5 in order to unlock the ability to make a social media profile and it will be automatically unlocked when you join the career.
Working From Home
One of the best things about joining the social media career in The Sims 4 is that your sim can choose to either go to work each day or work from home. This option is extremely helpful if you have a family to take care of but still would like to earn some money doing something other than freelance work.
Every day about an hour before your sim is supposed to start work, you’ll see a pop-up come up in the bottom left hand corner of the screen asking if you want to work from home or go to work that day.
When you choose to work from home you’ll see different tasks in the job panel for you to complete and when your boss is happy with your performance for that day you’ll get paid for each completed task.
If you are too excited to get a promotion and don’t want to wait, you can always just cheat your way up the social media ladder. Press ctrl + shift + C to open up the cheat box and type in testingcheats on so that all cheats will work. And then type in careers.promote socialmedia and you’ll go up a career rank.

Public Relations Branch

If you decide to choose the Public Relations branch of the social media career, you’ll find that you need to get 10,000 followers so it’s important to be constantly working on growing your followers throughout the process.
A cool unlock with the public relations career is that you can eventual start persuading sims to do things, for example, you can persuade a sim to flirt, or rant, or so many other cool options that can help you influence other sims. It’s important to note that there is a cool down for your ability to persuade so use it wisely.

Internet Personality Branch
“Internet fame can be for anyone. Continue to build your army of followers through pranks and jokes, all while working towards completely internet stardom!”
Any sim who chooses to go down the Internet Personality Branch of the Social Media Career will be working at Simstagram or Sim.tv! Both of which sound like really cool places to work, if you ask me.
In order to get promoted in this career path you need to keep gaining more and more followers as you improve. This is the most difficult and annoying part of the career. There are a few different ways to gain followers in the game that you can choose from.
You can do things like update your social media profile, upload photos, and more under the social networking section on your computer which can help you grow your following but will do it realtively slow.
To gain followers quickly you should do things like streaming video games on the computer which can be found under the play games option on the computer. You can also Prank streamers which can be found under social networking.
Updated for Get Famous: One of the best ways to get followers is to buy a drone and start live streaming while doing other things that will also get you followers. For example, you can live stream yourself with a drone while also live streaming a let’s play on the computer and it will do it more quickly!
Making Money With a Social Media Following
As you grow in the number of followers you have you’ll find yourself able to start advertising products. You can either advertise a major or minor product and you’ll be compensated nicely for your efforts. Beware of doing this too often as it can cause a ton of your followers to unfollow!

Final Thoughts
The social media career in The Sims 4 is a really awesome choice for anybody who’d like to work from home or who would like to become super rich and kinda famous. It’s a really spectacular job choice for any sim.
