The Sims 4: Cottage Living Cheats

With every new expansion pack we get for The Sims 4, a lot of players have the question what cheats can I do now? Well, this article is here to answer those questions. Of course there are a whole new grouping of cheats for The Sims 4: Cottage Living. These cheats range from things for cheating the cross-stitching skill to being able to spawn different animals on your lot.

How to Turn on Cheats

Before we can start discussing the types of cheats you can do with Cottage Living, you first need to make sure your cheats are enabled so that all of them work properly. First off you want to hit ctrl + shift + c on your keyboard (command shift c on mac, and all four triggers on console) and this will open a cheat dialogue box for you.

In this box you want to type in testingcheats true and hit enter. The game will let you know this worked by telling you that cheats are enabled and you can then type in whatever cheat you’d like to use. To close this dialogue box hit esc or ctrl + shift + c again.

Skill Cheats

We only got one new skill with The Sims 4: Cottage Living, which is a bit of a bummer. However, cross stitching is super cute and there is a way to cheat it. For this cheat you want to fill the X at the end with whatever level of the skill you’d like your sims to have. Cross-stitching is a minor skill so there are only 5 levels for your sim to master, so switch the X to whatever level between 1-5.

In addition to cheating the skill your sim has, you can even cheat to get all of the cross stitching patterns unlocked. You can do this by placing a cross stitching hoop in your sims home and hold down shift and click on the object, a cross stitch cheats option will appear and you can unlock all of the patterns this way.

Trait Cheats

In The Sims 4, you have the option to cheat extra traits onto your sims and since we only have the option to add 3 at a time, this is necessary. However, adding traits with cheats can cause issues like some aspects not working 100% properly, so be aware of that.

Farm Animal Cheats

When you hold down shift and click on any of the farm animals in Cottage Living, you’ll see a whole bunch of new cheats for you to explore. These include things like getting all the animal clothes, cheating relationships and more. Let’s discuss each!

Get All Animal Clothes

One of the cuter parts of this pack is dressing up all of the animals in these adorable animal clothes, but they can be hard to obtain from the creature keeper. However, there is, of course, a cheat for that. You can (with cheats enabled) go up to any animal and hold down shift and click on them and choose the get all animal clothes (debug) option and this will place every single piece of animal clothing in your inventory, and that’s a lot of animal clothing. You can even sell them for a profit.

Unlock Animal Homes

When dealing with wild rabbits and wild birds in this pack, you want to befriend them to add their animal houses to your sim’s lot. However, you may just want to place one without having to go through all the socials to become friends and there are two ways to do this.

The first thing you can do is to use the ignore gameplay unlocks cheat, with the dialogue box open (ctrl + shift + c) type in bb.ignoregameplayunlocksentitlement and hit enter. Then go into build mode and any objects that are hidden behind an unlock wall (like career objects) will be available, including the animal houses.

You can also go ahead and with cheats enabled go up to either the bird house or the rabbits and hold down shift and click and choose unlock all animal homes which will immediately unlock just these items in the build catalog.

Create Wool in Inventory

When you click on this cheat your sim is going to automatically get a bunch of wool in their inventory in a whole array of colours. My sim for example got one of each of the following types of llama wool:

• Black
• White
• Green
• Pink
• Blue
• Red
• Rainbow
• Brown
• Beige
• Orange
• Gold

This is an awesome cheat if you just want to get the wool without having to take care of a llama so you can sell it or use it in cross-stitching patterns.

Create All Feed Recipes in Inventory

The next cheat you can do by shift clicking on a cow, llama or chicken is the create all feed recipes in inventory cheat. This will give you one of every single treat type. There are a bunch of treats so you’ll get each of these:

• Healthy Treat
• Midnight Treat
• Pumpkin Treat
• Rainbow Treat
• Fruity Treat
• Flirty Treat
• Animal Party Treat
• Chocolatey Treat
• Spicy Treat
• Golden Treat
• Friendly Treat
• Veggie Treat
• Fishy Protein Treat

Each of these treats can have effects on the yield you get from your farm animals and can create different types of wool, milk and eggs.

Cheat Outcomes

Next we have cheat outcomes which gives you the option to have your sims always fail at or always succeed at their interactions with animals in this expansion pack. This only applies to animals from Cottage Living, not to cats or dogs!

Cheat Relationship

Finally, you have the ability to cheat relationship with whatever animal you click on. It actually gives you a few options which are way easier to use than the traditional relationship cheats in The Sims 4. The options include:

• Set Max Friendship: This will completely fill your relationship bar with that animal
• Set Min Friendship: This will turn the bar completely red and have the animal despise you
• Set Relationship to Almost Friend: This will bring you to green right before you’d become friends
• Make Friend: This will fill the bar just to the point where you’d be friends

Spawn Small Animals

If you’re playing the game and just desperately want a chicken or rabbit to spawn in that moment, you can cheat to make that happen. What you want to do is make sure cheats are enabled then hold down shift and click on the ground and a few animals options will appear.

These include create rabbit and create chicken with the option to choose a chick, hen or rooster.

Wild Animal Cheats

When you are playing the game you’ll encounter all sorts of different wild animals for your sims to spend time with including wild birds, wild rabbits and wild foxes. If you have cheats enabled and hold down shift and click on the rabbit, the fox or the bird house you’ll see a bunch of cheats unique to these animals.

They have the same create wool, cheat outcomes and cheat relationship as the farm animals so we won’t discuss how those work a second time.

Discover All Gift Preferences

This is probably the most valuable of these wild animal cheats, you can click this to immediately learn which gifts the animal likes, loves, or hates so you can give them stuff that they really enjoy to grow that relationship faster.

Controller State

This cheat is only available for the wild flock of birds and allows you to choose what the birds are doing at any given moment. The options you have to choose from include:

• Away
• Hidden
• Idle
• Sing
• Sleep
• Socializing

Take Gift Cooldown

Wild animals will only give you a gift around once per day, so being able to turn on or off that cooldown can let you get more gifts from these animals instead of having to wait.

Gift Preferences Cooldown

Using the discover gifting preferences interaction with these wild animals has a short cooldown where you won’t be able to do it for a while. You are able to either turn on or turn off this cool down in this cheats menu so you can just keep doing this social, or just use the previously discussed discover all gift preferences cheat.

Gardening Help

In this cheat menu you can also toggle on or off the ability for the birds or rabbits to help you with your gardening. This will allow the birds to eat bugs and the rabbits to eat the weeds so you have less work to do. Can be turned both on or off.

Old Age

This one only appear when shift clicking on a wild fox, and it was the ability to make them immediately die of old age. When you click this cheat the fox will get a small glow around them and will lay on the ground with Grim coming to take them immediately. Very sad, would not recommend.

Chicken Coop Cheats

There are a number of cheats you can do on the chicken coop specifically if you hold down shift and click on it, including getting livestock upgrade parts, creating eggs and more.

The first one that’s not too crazy is to make dirty which will immediately make the chicken coop dirty. I don’t know why you’d want to do this, but go ahead!

Get Livestock Upgrade Parts

The next cheat you can do when you shift click on the chicken coop is get special upgrade parts these are the livestock upgrade parts that you need to add any of the upgrades to both the chicken coop and animal shed. If you do this cheat numerous times you’ll get enough of these parts to install the fox alarm, the auto-feeder or the live extender which are all super valuable.

Create Eggs

There are so many different types of eggs for you to get from your chickens from various treats and other means, but it can take a long time to make this happen. With a shift click on the chicken coop you can automatically add all sorts of eggs to your chicken coop for your sim to collect. There are hatchable and not hatachable eggs to choose from.

The hatchable eggs include:

• Obsidian Egg
• Golden Egg
• Egg
• Chicken Egg Ready to Hatch

The obsidian egg will create an evil chicken, the golden egg will create a golden chicken, the regular egg will create a regular chicken.

The not hatchable eggs that you can make appear include:

• Blue Egg
• Egg
• Chocolate Egg
• Golden Egg
• Orange Egg
• Obsidian Egg
• Rainbow Egg
• Green Egg

Create Hen in Coop

If you don’t want to pay for a new hen in your chicken coop, you have the option to click on create hen in chicken coop which will automatically add a new hen to your coop. This only works if you have the space in the coop though!

Animal Shed Cheats

There are a few cheats you can do on the animal shed as well, to get these you’ll want to hold down shift (with cheats enabled) and click on the animal shed and they will appear as options.

The first of these cheats is to make dirty which is a funny one, because why would you want to have a dirty chicken coop?

Get Special Upgrade Part

This interaction will give you some of the livestock upgrade parts in your sims inventory, these are used for upgrading the animal shed and the chicken coop.

Create Animals

If your animal shed is empty you can use the create cow or llama cheat to immediately spawn one of these animals to live in these areas instead of having to pay for it, useful if you’re low on funds.

Animal Treat Cheats

If you have cheats enabled in your game and hold down shift and click on your sim’s fridge, you’ll see an animal treat cheats option that has three things to choose from. They are the following:

• Create all Feed Recipe Ingredients in Inventory
  • This will give you each ingredient you need to make every single animal treat in your sim’s inventory
• Unlock All Animal Treat Recipes
  • This will unlock the knowledge of how to make each of the animal traits for your sim
• Create All Feed Recipes in Inventory
  • This will give your sim one of each of the animal treats in your inventory

Death by Rabbit Cheat

If you hold down shift and click on a sim of your choice, you’ll now actually see a kill… option which has the choice be slain by a vicous killer rabbit. I genuinely couldn’t believe that this was an easily accessible cheat when I saw it. However, when I clicked on another sim to kill them (Nancy, of course) it ended up killing my own sim instead but the rabbit wasn’t there, they just went through the animations without a rabbit. So sad.

Final Thoughts

This pack honestly has some of the most user friendly cheats we’ve ever gotten, because you don’t need to remember all those crazy long cheat codes, you can just shift click on pretty much everything and get some new cheats available to you which is so easy to use. Happy playing!
