The Sims 4: Alchemy Potions (Realm of Magic)

Since The Sims 4: Realm of Magic is now out, we now have the ability to start creating potions using alchemy and using these potions to impact our lives. From immortality to full needs, these potions can be extremely helpful. In this guide we are going to talk about how to learn the potion recipes, and exactly what each potion will do for your sim.

How to Learn Potion Recipes

There are two ways that I’ve found to learn potion recipes in Realm of Magic. The first is to go up to a cauldron and choose experiment. Your sim will play around for a while and there is a chance that a new potion recipe will pop up.

The second option is to ask one of the Sages for a potion recipe, there is no cooldown (that I’ve found) to asking sages for recipes so you can do it back to back until you’ve learned them all!

How to Get Potion Ingredients

The first way to find potion ingredients is to go fishing, collecting, and start harvesting items you find around town. This is obviously going to be time consuming but it is the most economical way to not spend all of your money.

The second option is to go to the magical world and hop over to the section with all of the stalls where you can buy wands and brooms and things. One of the stalls is for magical ingredients for potions and you can buy things there. The items will rotate and change so you can’t count on this method to always have what you need.

You can also use the buy debug cheat to find these ingredients without having to buy them or search for them around the worlds.

Types of Alchemy Potions

Alluring Aura

“A potion that makes those around the drinker more receptive to romantic conversation.”

The alluring aura potion is going to make your sim feel flirty and make sims around them want to be flirted with. Romantic interactions are going to go more smoothly and you can build a nice romantic relationship using this one. If it backfires you’ll get an embarassed moodlet, pheromone cloud.

Your sim can learn this potion when they are at the neophyte level of being a spellcaster. The ingredients for this potion are cherry, valerian root and the spotted heart frog.

Curse Cleansing

“A potion to remove all curses from a Sim.”

The curse cleansing potion will do exactly what the name says, get rid of any magical curses that your sim may be experimenting.

Your sim can learn this potion when they are at the adept level of being a spell caster. You’ll need four ingredients to make this one and they are apple, citrine, angelfish and mandrake.

Emotional Stability

“A potion to remove unnecessary emotional baggage.”

The potion of emotional stability will remove all negative moodlets (i.e., angry, tense, sad, etc.) and will give your sim a +4 happy moodlet, clear minded. If this one backfires you’ll get a +1 for every single emotion which is really weird and funny.

The potion of emotional stability is made up of potato and obtainium and can be learned at the neophyte level of being a spellcaster.

Forced Friendship

“A potion that unlocks the power of friendly conversation.”

The potion of forced friendship is going to make your sims have better social interactions and unlocks the ability to use the power of forced friendship on other sims filling your friendship bar completely. If this one backfires your sim will get an uncomfortable moodlet, forced friendship.

This potion can be learned when you’re at the acolyte level and its ingredients are baconite, potato and salmon.

Good Fortune

“A potion to find helpful items while doing everyday activities.”

The potion of good fortune will give your sim a +1 happy moodlet, luck of the spellcaster. They will start finding random ingredients or money when experimenting with the cauldron or doing random activities around the house.

The good fortune potion is made up of valerian root and turquoise. It’s available to spellcasters who are at the acolyte level.

Immortality

“A potion to prevent death from old age.”

The immortality potion is a great one, but it has no moodlet bonuses immediately. A notification will appear letting you know that your sim is now immortal and they can no longer die of old age.

The immortality potion is able to be learned at the master level of being a spellcaster. It’s ingredients are mandrake, sage, morcubus and diamond.

Magical Aura

“A potion that will display a Sim’s magical aura.”

The potion of magical aura will give the sim who drinks it a +2 happy moodlet for 4 hours called magic aura and a yellow aura will appear around them if they are magical. I’m unsure of this potion’s purpose unless you use it at a non-magic realm lot to see if someone is a spellcaster? Maybe?

This potion is made up of two ingredients, emerald and goldfish and can be learned when you’re at the apprentice level of being a spellcaster.

Masterful Insults

“A potion that unlocks the power of animosity.”

The potion of Masterful Insults is going to give your sim a +1 angry moodlet that will last 4 hours, insults at the ready. They’ll easily get into arguments and fights with other sims.

Your sim is able to learn the masterful insults potion when they’re at the adept level of being a spellcaster. It is made up of dragon fruit, furium and fire opal.

Nausea

“A potion to annoy an enemy and turn their stomach.”

The nausea potion is going to give your sim a +2 uncomfortable moodlet that will last one hour. I had one sim with this potion be fine after the moodlet and the other one went to vomit in the toilet, so it’s not an every time thing.

The nausea potion is able to be learned at the apprentice level of spellcasting and is made up of a dirt frog and a mandrake.

Nimble Mind

“A potion that will increase the speed your Sims gain skills.”

The Nimble Mind potion is going to give your sim a +2 confident moodlet that will last 4 hours called skill boost. For the duration of those 4 hours your sims will get a bonus in gaining any skills.

The potion of Nimble Mind is able to be learned at the apprentice level of being a spellcaster and is made up of a spotted dirt frog and parsley.

Perk Purging

“A potion that allows a Spellcaster to choose different perks.”

The perk purging moodlet will let you choose all new spellcaster perks for your sim and let you go down a new path if you so choose. However, it can backfire and make your sim feel dazed.

Your sim is able to learn this spell when they are at the acolyte level and is made up of mandrake and valerian root.

Plentiful Needs

“A potion to fulfill all of a Sim’s needs.”

The potion of plentiful needs is going to fill all of your sims needs 100%, this will also probably give them the +2 feeling great happy moodlet since their needs are completely full.

The potion of plentiful needs is only made up of apples and can be learned when your sim is an apprentice.

Prompt Resurrection

“A Sim that drinks this potion will revive immediately if they die.”

The prompt resurrection potion will make it so that your sim will come back to life immediately when they die. A series of colours will appear around your sim when they hit the floor during death that will whip them back up and make them come back to life. After drinking this they’ll get a 24 hour confident +2 moodlet, prompt resurrection.

This potion is learned at the master level of being a spellcaster. It’s made up of death metal, death flower and a zombie carl which are all very fitting for a resurrection potion!

Rejuvenation

“A potion to allow a Sim to remain at their current age.”

The rejuvenation potion is going to give your sim a fresh chance at life and they will stay the age they are now. I’m unsure if it lasts forever, but it’s cool!

The potion of rejuvenation can be learned at the adept level of being a spellcaster. The ingredients are alabaster, lemon and valerian root.

Transcendent Charmer

“A potion to unlock the power of romantic conversation.”

Drinking the Transcendent Charmer potion is going to give your sim a +1 flirty moodlet that is going to last 4 hours called, power of love. Your sim is going to be feeling flirty and will have extra success when doing romantic interactions with other sims.

Transcendent charmer is made up of ruby, kissing gourami, and rose and can be learned at the master level of being a spellcaster.
