The Sims 4: Skiing Skill (Snowy Escape)
One of the biggest features in The Sims 4: Snowy Escape is the mountain and all of the fun extreme sports your sims can do on the mountain. This includes snowboarding, mountain climbing, and the topic of this article skiing!
Skiing is a 10 level skill that has your sim going on the slopes and spending a lot of time falling over and getting back up until they can do cool tricks and eventually teach skiing.
How to Get a Set of Skis
There are two ways for your sim to get a pair of skis to start adventuring on the slopes. The first way is to just click on the slopes and choose to start skiing, this will give your sim a pair or loaner skis that won’t last long and will have a higher chance of failure or injury.
What you really want to do is purchase a pair of skis that are higher quality than loaners. You can do this on your sim’s computer or at one of the bits and bobbles vending machines around town. There is one located at the base of the ski lift.
How to Gain the Skiing Skill
There are two ways to gain the skiing skill, the first one being to read skiing skill books that you can purchase on the computer. Skill books are the slowest way for your sim to gain a skill in The Sims 4 so I’d suggest just earning the skill by actually skiing.
If you want to gain the skill in a more fun way, you can go ahead and go to the bunny slope to start learning the skill and choose to go continuously to just have your sim gain the skill rather quickly. You can also do this on the larger slopes as you gain the skill and unlock the ability to use them.
How to Cheat the Skiing Skill
If you don’t feel like gaining the skiing skill you have the option to just go ahead and cheat it. To do this you can start by turning on cheats by hitting ctrl + shift + c on your keyboard, then type in testingcheats true and hitting enter.
Then you’ll want to type in stats.set_skill_level major_skiing X and fill the x with whatever level you’d like. For example, you can choose level 5 and type in stats.set_skill_level major_skiing 5 and that should work.
Levels of the Skiing Skill
There are ten levels of the skiing skill for your sims to work on, just like snowboarding and rock climbing. You’ll spend most of your time on the mountain, learning how to ski through trial and error and a lot of falling.
At each level of the skill your sim will unlock new abilities and CAS items in the game!
Skiing Skill Level 1
When you first start gaining the skiing skill your sim will be able to go skiing on both the bunny slope and the easy slope (the one on the left hand side) on the mountain.
Skiing Skill Level 2
At level 2 your sim will get access to a new pair of skiing pants in create a sim, they will also unlock the ability to inquire about powder conditions.
Skiing Skill Level 3
When at level 3 of the skill your sim can go onto the intermediate slope (the middle one), they can also research the art of skiing on their computer, and finally they are going to unlock the slope master 3000 set of skis for use.
Skiing Skill Level 4
At level 4 of the skill your sim can finally try and ski on the expert level of the slopes. You can also do some brand new tricks on the slopes and prepare for the moment.
Skiing Skill Level 5
When at level 5 of skiing your sim is going to get a new ski coat that is available in create a sim, they can also now discuss past ski experiences and go skiing on the ludicrous ski slope.
Skiing Skill Level 6
When at level 6 your sims will get some new animations while they are skiing and will get a paid of X2 Ice Bender Skis.
Skiing Skill Level 7
When at level 7 of the skill, you don’t get much, but your sim can start to blog about skiing on the computer.
Skiing Skill Level 8
When at level 8 your sim will get a new skiing trick and be able to deliberate skiing style with other sims.
Skiing Skill Level 9
At level 9 of the skill your sim will get a brand new trick they will do on the slopes, and they can also give advice on avoiding wipeouts on the slopes to other sims.
Skiing Skill Level 10
When your sim maxes the skiing skill they are going to unlock some cool stuff. They can coach others in skiing, offering your skiing expertise, and teach a skiing class.
How to Teach Skiing Classes
When your sim reaches level 10 of the skiing skill they are actually going to have the opportunity to start teaching skiing classes to other sims.
This is a great way to earn a bit of income from having a high level in the skiing skill, since there is no career directly attached to this skill or any other way to earn money. Your sims will earn somewhere between §500 and §1000 every time they teach.
Your sim is able to teach these classes from 8 am to 5 pm from Monday to Friday. This allows you to turn it into a fake job where your sim goes to teach each and every day and then spends the rest of the day on the slopes. You’ll find the option to teach one of these classes on your sim’s phone or on the computer under the work menu.
Final Thoughts
Skiing and snowboarding are two really fun activities to do in The Sims 4, and I am so glad we finally got a mountain world in a winter wonderland pack. These extreme sports are awesome and I honestly love how the team did them for the game, happy playing!
